High-flow pump selection for irrigation and drainage
Irrigation, drainage and canal-lift duties live in the high-flow, low-head corner of the pump map — exactly where Cascade's axial and mixed flow lines are strongest, from 1,500 to 130,000 GPM at 3 to 110 feet of head. The selector finds the most efficient bowl, speed and impeller trim for your exact duty point.

Efficiency is your operating cost
An irrigation pump may run thousands of hours per season, so a few points of bowl efficiency translate directly into fuel or electricity savings every year. The selector ranks candidates by efficiency at your duty point and shows the full efficiency curve, so you can see how the pump behaves as water levels and demand shift through the season.
Reduced-speed operation built in
Water demand is not constant. Enter additional duty points at reduced speed and the selector evaluates them against the same pump, so you can confirm one machine covers both peak and off-peak conditions without falling off the curve.
Submergence for open wet wells and canals
Drawing from a canal, river or open sump? Each selection includes a Hydraulic Institute 9.8 minimum submergence value for continuous operation and a pump-down level for short-duration operation — the numbers you need to set the pump and avoid vortexing.
How the selector works
- Enter your design flow and bowl head (plus specific gravity and speed if known).
- Get ranked Cascade selections with impeller trim, stages, efficiency, brake horsepower and NPSHr at your duty point.
- Download the full data sheet (PDF or Excel) with curves, or send the selection straight to your local Cascade representative.
Selections follow ANSI/HI 9.1–9.5 guidelines for VS1 and VS2 pumps, and Hydraulic Institute 9.8 intake guidance is calculated for every result. All results are preliminary selections; final quotes and submittals come from Cascade staff.
