Pump selection for cooling water and process service
Cooling tower circulation, once-through cooling, process water transfer and plant utility systems demand pumps that hold efficiency at the real duty point — not just at best efficiency point. Cascade's selector evaluates every vertical turbine and mixed flow model at your exact flow and head, including reduced-speed operating cases.
Free, no account needed — results in seconds.
NPSHr at the duty point, not the brochure point
Industrial sumps and cooling water basins rarely offer generous submergence. Every selection reports NPSHr at your actual operating point and pairs it with a Hydraulic Institute 9.8 minimum submergence calculation, so cavitation risk is evaluated before the pump is ever quoted.
Specific gravity and speed handled correctly
Enter the fluid's specific gravity and any fixed driver speed — the selector adjusts head, horsepower and NPSHr evaluation accordingly, and flags when a duty falls outside Cascade's published range rather than guessing.
Documentation your engineering team can use
Download a complete data sheet as PDF or Excel: performance table, head / efficiency / horsepower / NPSHr curves, HI 9.8 submergence values, and the standards note (ANSI/HI 9.1–9.5, AWWA E103). Send the selection to your local Cascade representative directly from the results page.
How the selector works
- Enter your design flow and bowl head (plus specific gravity and speed if known).
- Get ranked Cascade selections with impeller trim, stages, efficiency, brake horsepower and NPSHr at your duty point.
- Download the full data sheet (PDF or Excel) with curves, or send the selection straight to your local Cascade representative.
Selections follow ANSI/HI 9.1–9.5 guidelines for VS1 and VS2 pumps, and Hydraulic Institute 9.8 intake guidance is calculated for every result. All results are preliminary selections; final quotes and submittals come from Cascade staff.
